Dr Rajesh Sharma


Graduated in 1996 from Medical College, Jaipur, India, and subsequently enrolled in the 3-year postgraduate pediatric residency program. During his post-graduation, he submitted his dissertation for the award of M.D., which also resulted in a publication. He received the 'Best Student Award' for his overall excellence in academic and extracurricular activities during medical school.
In 2002, he relocated to the UK and joined the 5-year North London Paediatric fellowship to fulfill the requirements for their CCT in Neonatal Medicine.
In September 2009, he commenced his role as a Consultant Neonatologist in a tertiary-level intensive care unit at Ninewells University Hospital & Medical School in Dundee, Scotland. He also assumed the role of college tutor for RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health).
In December 2012, he relocated to Abu Dhabi, where they became the Head of Department at NMC Specialty Hospital and Bright Point Hospital. He played a crucial role in establishing a tertiary-level neonatal unit from inception to completion. During his tenure, he gained substantial insights into the revenue cycle management within the healthcare system of Abu Dhabi. As the department's leader, the actively engaged with the health authority of Abu Dhabi, collaborated with other medical facility leadership and played a pivotal role in establishing a formal network between Corniche Hospital and private hospitals like Danat Al Emarat Hospital and NMC Royal Women Hospital (Brightpoint).
In February 2015, he joined Corniche Hospital, in Abu Dhabi. His primary area of interest has always been Neonatal Medicine & Intensive Care. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he has been actively involved in various projects at Corniche Hospital, particularly those aimed at improving CMI (Case Mix Index) and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) documentation. Significant progress has been made in revenue collection under his leadership, and he continues to spearhead this project.
He represents Corniche Hospital at the SEHA Physician Advisory Council (PAC) for the electronic patient record system (Malaffi) and is dedicated to making it more user-friendly for both physicians and patients, with the ultimate goal of transitioning to a completely paperless system.
Corniche Hospital stands as the sole SEHA hospital participating in the Vermont Oxford Network (VON) data audit, and he has been leading this project since 2015.
In the past, he served as the Vice-Chair of the RCPCH Trainees Committee and has maintained an active involvement with RCPCH and its educational programs. His passion for teaching led him to take on the adjunct faculty position at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, where he has been teaching pediatric curriculum for the past two years.
These diverse experiences have not only enriched his clinical expertise but have also honed his administrative, teaching, organizational, and managerial skills.
