Dr Sunny Kurian

Dr. Sunny Kurian is a UAE-based Indian pediatrician with experience spanning three decades, in multiple healthcare domains. He pioneered pediatrics as an exclusive branch of medicine in the UAE in the 90’s, which was until then a part of general medical practice. Dr. Sunny’s name still resonates as a household name in Emirati family circles, thanks to his trend-setting practice and personal rapport with his kid patients who are now high-functioning adults in the UAE’s professional landscape. It was Dr. Sunny who pioneered the concept of multi-specialty outpatient clinics in the suburbs of Sharjah when healthcare was still in its infancy in the UAE.

After qualifying for his MBBS, DCH and MD from Mysore University, he went on to obtain a diploma in Adolescent Medicine (PGDAP) from the University of Kerala in 2008. He underwent special Adolescent Training (EuTEACH) at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2015 and later, helped facilitate the course to be conducted in the UAE for the UAE-based Pediatricians.

For his pioneering work in the field of pediatrics, especially for promoting the activities of Indian Academy of Pediatrics outside India, he was conferred the title Fellow of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP) in 2016. IAP Emirates regularly organizes impactful academic programs and conferences for the Pediatric Community in the UAE.

With the tenet to give back to the society of his adopted land, he started the venture of home healthcare in Sharjah, which is also setting new standards in the country. He is diversifying his healthcare expertise to the Wellness sector with an upcoming venture in Sharjah. Honored several times for excellence in services and facilities, he continues to believe in continuous improvement, adaptability to the changing times and innovation in healthcare ecosystems.
