Prof Manuel Katz


Prof Manuel Katz is an Israeli, Argentinean-born Pediatrician married to Ana, and has 3 children and 8 grandchildren. During his almost 50 years in practice was active as a senior Pediatrician in hospital and community settings, a docent in Pediatrics, with management positions as Deputy General Director at a tertiary care hospital and Medical Director in an HMO in Israel. Was for 8 years Director of the Maternal and Child Health Department in the Southern area of Israel. Dr. Katz has an Academic fellowship in Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA.
His current position is Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety at Meuhedet Health Services. Dr Katz is a Professor in Pediatrics at Maimonides University (Argentina), NIMS University, India, and (Ret Docent) at Ben Gurion University (Israel).
From 2016 he has been President of the "GOSHEN" foundation, dedicated to creating a holistic community healthcare environment in a pioneering approach to 21st century early child development. For the last 25 years he has been chairing the Israel Steering Committee on Domestic Violence, sexual abuse, and Helpless Populations, and is a member of the National Council for Pediatrics and Child Health of the Israel Ministry of Health
Prof Katz is Past President of the Israel Pediatric Association from 1996 to 2000 and two-times Chairman of the Ambulatory Pediatric Society,
He was an IPA Standing Committee member representing Europe, as Secretary General of the European Pediatric Association, and was nominated to the IPA Presidency position. Is a member and former Council member of ECPCP and ISSOP. From 2011 Prof Katz has been the chair of the Global Initiative for Consensus in Pediatrics ( CIP).
Is a member of the IPA SAG on Early Childhood Development Term 2021-2023
During his career was distinguished with local and International awards as the "Lifetime Achievements in Pediatrics and Child Health" from the Israeli Ambulatory Pediatric Association, Lifetime achievements in Community from the Israel Medical Association, and the "International Lifetime Award in Pediatrics" at the PGHTNCON in India. In 1996 was invited to the AAP as a "leader in pediatrics". He is "Honoris Causa" of the Slovakian Pediatric Association and an honor member of several National and International Pediatric Societies.
